Boy Scouts of America has provided boys with a moral compass and a solid path to manhood for more than a century. Since its beginning, the message of the Boy Scouts of America remains unchanged. Scouts promise on their honor to do their best to do their duty to God, to their country and to others. Scouts strive to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent in a world that increasingly sees these values as irrelevant. In scouting all boys, big and small, are always welcome.
Troop 511 in Calgary
Boys, 11 through 17 years old, with American or other Expatriate Citizenship, living in Calgary can be part of a Boy Scouts of America troop. Troop 511 offers a year-round program focused on character development. The troop’s year-round high adventure outdoor program is set in the spectacular Rocky Mountains just an hour from Calgary and includes exciting weekend camping and backpacking trips. Whether new to scouting or transferring from an existing troop, Troop 511 offers opportunities for boys to develop outdoor skills, independence, and the self-confidence to face life’s challenges.
The mission of Troop 511 is to prepare young men to make ethical and moral decisions during their lives by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Troop 511 delivers a program producing life experiences that permit boys to practice servant leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Troop 511 is chartered to the Western Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce in Calgary. The troop is a “direct service” unit of the Boy Scouts of America. Administration for our Direct Service unit is provided by the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America located in Bethesda, Maryland.
Troop 511 conducts an exciting program of weekend campouts, backpacking trips and activities every month during the school year. Each summer, Scouts of BSA Troop 511 leave Calgary and participate in a week-long Boy Scouts of America camp in the United States.
